Knitting Club
I sponsor a knitting club at Brown. Our first meeting will be on Thursday, November 4 at 8:00 A.M. in my classroom. Any child can come and learn to knit. This year we are knitting hats for newborns in Malawi, Africa. Please read the Brown Barker for more details.
No School the Next Two Fridays
Just a reminder that we will not have school on Friday, November 5 or Friday, November 12. Enjoy the extra time with your family!
Conferences
I hope that everyone found the survey monkey easy to navigate in setting up your conference time. I sent home a paper with your child on Monday letting you know the specific time of your conference. I am looking forward to visiting with you.

Knitting for Newborns in Malawi, Africa
With help from some of my friends, today we taught children who were interested how to knit. I provided needles and yarn for the kids to get started. (I will need the needles back later.) Many of them caught on quickly. There are great websites to refer to if your child forgot how to make the knit stitch, or I know at the Knit Stop where I knit, you can have Karen or Kate give your child a 2 hour lesson for $10. I love to knit, and I love seeing children use their talents to help others. There will also be an opportunity for your child to come on Thursday mornings at 8:00 to my room for Knitting Club. Watch for information for the starting date later this month. Happy knitting!
P.S. If you are a knitter and want to help out, please let me know!
