I Celebrate Myself

I celebrate myself
as if I were to be
a conductor,
to turn my train around,
as if the train
was my life,
to have a whole new way,
to not be a troublemaker any more.
I’m tired of making teachers
lose their voice for me,
always knowing my name,
never able to get any privileges,
none…
Now, I’m making honor roll,
listening in class,
following directions,
being the diligent person
that everyone
knew was inside me.
I can be a train
that will go on the
right train tracks
forever and ever,
along my life.
I celebrate myself.

- This is my 30th year teaching. I have taught 6th grade, 3rd grade, and now 5th grade all in Brownsburg. My husband's name is Greg and my stepson's name is Alex. Keeping us all on our toes is our Scottish Terrier named Bonnie Skye.In June my husband and I traveled to Ireland and had a wonderful time. In addition to traveling, I enjoy reading, knitting, and biking the Monon Trail.
